For mountain bikers, the route starts at 1,800 m at Kilema Gate. Trail runners start at Marangu Gate, both located on the eastern slopes of Kilimanjaro. The Trail Runner go directly to Mandara Huts at 2700 HM and the Mountain Biker pass through Horombo Hut (3,700 m), leave their bikes there and run down to Mandara Huts. The next morning we proceed to Horombo Hut for a training Camp. After two more day we make the ascent to Kibo Hut (4,700 m).
This is where the real challenge begins: the steep climb from Kibo Hut to Gillman's Point (5,861 m) and on to the peak of Kilimanjaro (5,895 m). For this critical stage, there will be a medical checkpoint at Kibo Hut where all athletes are briefly checked for their physical and mental fitness. At the Uluru summit, the famous board wall awaits us.
After this gigantic effort, the other half of the fun begins: the 35 km long, 4000 m vertical descent back to the gates!
